Rio de Janeiro
A week in Rio - June 2017
After a 16 hour delay, as the wheels lifted off the tarmac, passengers gave a spontaneous round of applause. I can't complain, though: we got a good night's sleep back home before heading to the airport again, and AA refunded almost half the points we used to book the ticket PLUS the cost of extra legroom seats I'd paid for!
Museum of Tomorrow, designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava.
Antonio with Priscilla
This is the section of track where Usain Bolt won his third Olympic Gold last year.
Hiking up the Sugarloaf.
If it looks familiar - it's the cable car from the Bond movie Moonraker!
Copa beach behind us.
Best steak I've had in years. I can still taste the charcoal! Unlimited helpings of tasty side dishes. CT Boucherie if you're ever here...
Simone and Tina
At the Forte Copacabana. Those massive cannons have a range of 23km!
We enrolled Antonio in local summer boot camp.
The seaside town of Buzios.
Now THIS is some quality fruity ice cream.
We just finished some seriously scrumptious home made pizza, with Eduardo, Simone & Priscilla. Polished off a wonderful Bordeaux, too.
Their local beach. Remember: this is winter!!!
This Buzios sunset gives Santorini a run for its money.
The immaculately-kept metro, and just $1.40/ride. Note nude art on the cave walls!
Waiting for the clouds to lift at the top of Corcovado. The weather forecast was for sunshine when we bought our timed train tickets up! Hurry up and take the picture before the fog returns!
